Beloved actor Yoo Yeon Seok, known for his heartwarming characters, is ready to give you goosebumps in the upcoming K-Drama, "A Bloody Lucky Day."
Fans adore Yoo for his roles as a friendly doctor in "Hospital Playlist" and a loving baseball player in "Reply 1994." But now, get ready for a shocking transformation as he becomes a relentless serial killer in Tving's "A Bloody Lucky Day."
This transformation is a big deal, as the show has been selected for the "On Screen" section of the 28th Busan International Film Festival (BIFF).
In an exclusive look at his preparation for the role, Yoo revealed that he studied real-life psychopaths. He learned from them during a special Guest Visit event in Busan.
Yoo Yeon Seok explained, "I noticed that actual psychopaths have sharp, focused eyes when they speak. I aimed to bring that cold simplicity to my portrayal, capturing their directness and clarity."
The series, based on a beloved webcomic, centers around Oh Taek, a taxi driver played by Lee Sung Min. Oh's day seems lucky after a dream involving a pig, a symbol of good luck. He has a string of fares promising good earnings.
However, as night falls, his last passenger, Hyuk Soo, played by Yoo, offers a large sum for a long trip. What starts as a normal ride takes a dark turn when Oh realizes he's trapped with a murderer.
For Yoo, this series came at the right time, as he was eager to explore darker roles.
Yoo Yeon Seok said, "While filming a medical series, I wanted to diversify my portfolio. This script came my way, and the webcomic got me hooked on the character."
