“Anna” Director Lee Joo Young Demands Coupang Play To Release An Apology Letter, Here’s Why

Director Lee Joo Young, who directed the drama ‘Anna‘ starring Suzy, claimed that ‘Coupang Play‘ damaged the work.

On August 2nd, Siwoo, the legal representative of director Lee Joo Young, announced the position of director Lee Joo Young through an official press release.

Director Lee Joo Young‘s side said, “The original ‘Anna’ was a total of eight episodes (45-61 minutes per episode), but Coupang Play unilaterally edited and released ‘Anna’, excluding him as the director, and reduced it to six episodes. Not only has the volume been reduced, but the narrative, filming, editing, and narrative intentions have all been damaged.”

He continued, “I asked the credits to remove my name from ‘Director, Screenplay’, but even that was rejected. I requested a correction through my agent, but I did not receive a response. We hope for Coupang Play’s public apology and corrective action.

Anna‘ is a mystery suspense drama that tells the story of a woman who lives a completely different life from her name, family, education, and past, starting with trivial lies.

In the drama, Suzy received favorable reviews for her role as Lee Yu Mi, a woman who was born to a poor father and a disabled mother, and Lee Anna, a perfect woman everyone envied.
