• Netizens Make “Predictions” On The Ending of “Twenty Five Twenty One” Says Na Hee Do and Baek Yi Jin Will Definitely End Up Together

Twenty Five Twenty One” has gone halfway into its run and viewers are getting more and more curious about the ending.

A predetermined ending seems to be the “trend” of K-dramas lately. JTBC’s "Thirty Nine" and tvN’s “Twenty Five Twenty One” all give a glimpse of a sad ending right at the beginning.

In “Twenty Five Twenty One”, the daughter of the female lead Na Hee Do (Kim Tae Ri) has the last name Kim, sparking the speculation that her biological father is not the male lead Baek Yi Jin (Nam Joo Hyuk).  Is there any story behind her last name that has yet to unfold or are we really getting a sad ending?

The major background of “Twenty Five Twenty One” is set in 1998, amid the aftermath of the IMF financial crisis, when young people’s dreams and ambitions are torn apart and taken away from them. The drama is also a story interwoven between the present and the past and a big question viewers have about Na Hee Do and Baek Yi Jin is “Will they end up together?”.

Although many clues point out that the two will eventually part ways, a happy ending is possible because the writer can still pull a plot twist that Baek Yi Jin is Na Hee Do’s husband and Kim Min Chae’s father.

The happy ending theory is not groundless either, because there is a chance Baek Yi Jin is adopted and Baek is not his real last name. In episode 5, at the station, the police say that two years ago (ie, 1996), Baek Yi Jin’s father established a company under the name of his second son – Baek Yi Hyun, then 14 years old.

It’s common for dads to have to set up a company or change the name under the eldest son’s name, right? Yi Jin’s father set up a company under his second son’s name. Is Yi Jin a biological child? Or is there some other hidden meaning?

From the above theory, netizens have guessed that maybe Baek Yi Jin’s real last name is Kim, which is also the same as Kim Min Chae’s daughter’s last name. Besides, according to the conversation between Min Chae and Hee Do at the beginning of episode 7, it seems that Min Chae’s father is abroad.

Baek Yi Jin is currently a reporter, it is possible that she may be a foreign resident reporter in the future like Hee Do’s mother. Now, as long as Yi Jin is adopted and will change his last name, everything will be reasonable.

Another hint shows that the words are written on Hee Do’s sword and the words Min Chae’s father wrote to his daughter are quite similar. So it makes perfect sense to hide the appearance of Min Chae’s father in the first place.

Well, it doesn’t matter if it will have a sad ending or a happy ending, just enjoy the drama as comfortably as possible. Even if it has a sad ending, this drama is good enough, isn’t it? It is not necessary that the person who accompanied her at the age of 18 has to accompany her to the end of her life.

Twenty Five Twenty One” retains its rating, and the film’s rhythm is kept interesting by the delivery of positive messages, which is why this drama is recommended to be watched at least once in a lifetime.
