“Hellbound” was named the 'Best Horror Series of 2021' by Rotten Tomatoes.
Netflix Korea’s series “Hellbound” (2021) ranked first on American film and television review website Rotten Tomatoes’ “Best Horror Series 2021,” according to Netflix on Monday.
“Hellbound” tells the story of people suddenly being visited by mysterious messengers who damn them to hell, a cult that arises amid the chaos and those who try to figure out the mystery. The series stars actors Yoo Ah In, Kim Hyun Joo and Park Jeong Min. It also debuted in the No. 1 spot on Netflix’s list of most-viewed TV shows upon its release in November 2021.
Rotten Tomatoes, a global film rating site, hosts the Golden Tomato Awards, which select and announce the best movies and series every year.
With a critic's rating of 97 percent, the series took the top spot for the horror series genre at the “Golden Tomato Awards” announced annually by the website. There is no actual ceremony.
“Summoned by the devilish imagination of writer-director Yeon Sang-ho, 'Hellbound' leverages its terrifying concept to thoughtfully explore human fallibility,” reads the critique on Rotten Tomatoes.
“Hellbound” was followed by the Paramount+ series “Evil: Season 2,” Apple TV+’s “Calls: Season 1” and Netflix’s “Midnight Mass: Limited Series.”
