A massive memorial video honoring Barbie Hsu, the late wife of Koo Jun Yup, was played on a giant billboard in New York’s Times Square, with fans covering the expensive tribute.

On February 12, photographer So Hong Su shared footage of the touching video, which was displayed in one of the world’s most famous locations.

Advertising on the Times Square screen reportedly costs between $50,000 to $100,000 per minute (about 72.65 million to 150 million KRW).

Despite the high cost, Barbie Hsu’s fans came together to fund the display, showcasing special moments from her life. A similar memorial video was also shown on a major screen at Nanjing Plaza in China.

Barbie Hsu tragically passed away on February 2 due to acute pneumonia while traveling in Japan. She leaves behind her husband Koo Jun Yup, her mother, her younger sister Dee Hsu, and two children.

However, after her passing, controversy erupted over her estimated $90 million inheritance. Reports surfaced that her ex-husband, Wang Xiaofei, and his mother, Zhang Lan, spread false rumors about her final arrangements.

Including claims that a private jet was used to transport her remains to Taiwan and that Koo Jun Yup and Dee Hsu pressured her into a massive life insurance policy. These allegations led to Wang Xiaofei and Zhang Lan’s removal from Chinese social media platforms.

In response, Koo Jun Yup made a public statement, declaring that he would renounce any claim to Barbie Hsu’s inheritance, transferring all rights to her mother.

He also vowed to take legal action to prevent anyone with bad intentions from accessing the estate until her children become adults.
